Liquid facelift in Rotterdam

A liquid facelift is a non-surgical treatment in which the doctor treats several areas of the face with fillers and, where helpful, a muscle relaxant, so that the face looks fresher and firmer. At Zalat Clinics in Rotterdam, our BIG-registered doctor draws up the treatment plan and carries it out personally. The aim is for you to look rested, not different.

What is a liquid facelift?

As we age, the face changes in several places at once. The midface loses volume, the cheeks descend slightly, the jawline becomes less defined, marionette lines appear at the corners of the mouth and a hollow can develop under the eyes. A liquid facelift looks at the whole face and addresses the main causes in one coherent plan.

The word ‘liquid’ refers to the fact that no incision is made: everything is done with injections. The basis is usually hyaluronic acid filler, which restores volume and support. Where facial expression causes lines, a muscle relaxant can be added, and for dull or thin skin sometimes a skin booster such as Profhilo. A muscle relaxant is a prescription-only medicine and is only used after assessment by the doctor.

Which areas are treated?

Which areas go into your plan depends on your face. Common elements of a liquid facelift are:

  • cheeks: restoring volume and a subtle lift of the midface
  • jawline and chin: a firmer contour and more definition of the lower face
  • marionette lines and mouth corners: softening the lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin
  • tear trough: a less tired look by gently filling the hollow under the eyes
  • muscle relaxant: for example for frown lines, the forehead or downturned mouth corners
  • skin booster: sometimes as a finishing step, for better hydration and skin quality
  • biostimulator: for less firm skin, sometimes Radiesse or Sculptra, which stimulate your own collagen production

Liquid facelift or surgical facelift: what can and can't it do?

A liquid facelift is not a replacement for a surgical facelift. Surgery removes excess, lax skin and repositions deeper tissues. Filler cannot do that: it adds volume and support, but it does not remove skin. With pronounced sagging of the cheeks, a lot of loose skin on the neck or clear jowls, surgery is the appropriate route, and we will tell you so honestly.

What a liquid facelift can do is correct volume loss, soften shadows and bring the contours of the face back into balance. With mild to moderate ageing, most people get a fresher appearance this way, without anaesthesia, scars or weeks of recovery.

Who is a liquid facelift suitable for?

A liquid facelift often suits people aged roughly 35 to 60 with early to moderate signs of ageing, who want to look less tired but do not want surgery. The treatment is possible from age 18, not during pregnancy or breastfeeding and not with an active skin infection. With certain muscle disorders or medications a muscle relaxant is not suitable; the doctor will discuss this at the consultation. The plan is drawn up and carried out by Dr. Pravesh Gadjradj, a BIG-registered doctor (BIG 39924163701). If surgery is the better option for you, we will refer you to a plastic surgeon.

How does the treatment work?

  1. 01

    Free consultation and treatment plan

The doctor assesses your face at rest, in motion and in profile, and discusses your wishes and medical history. You receive a personal plan with the areas, the amounts and a fixed total price.

  2. 02

    One or more sessions

The plan can be carried out in one session or spread over two or three. Building up in steps gives more control and a calmer recovery. A session takes about 45–90 minutes.

  3. 03

    Treatment

The doctor works with small amounts and, where possible, a blunt cannula, checking the balance of the whole face throughout.

  4. 04

    Free check-up after two weeks

After two weeks the swelling has gone and we review the result together.

How much does a liquid facelift cost?

A liquid facelift has no fixed standard price, because the plan differs from person to person. After the free consultation you receive a combined treatment plan with a fixed total price, before anything is treated. As an indication: filler for the cheeks, jawline or chin is from €250 per ml, and a tear trough treatment is €349.

Recovery, results and possible side effects

Expect mild swelling, tenderness and possibly some bruising for two to five days. The effect of the filler is visible immediately and final after about two weeks; a muscle relaxant takes effect within a few days to two weeks. Filler lasts on average 9 to 18 months, a muscle relaxant usually 3 to 4 months.

An infection or allergic reaction is also rare, but cannot be ruled out. That is why the doctor works sterilely, asks about allergies and previous treatments beforehand, and sees you again for a free check-up after two weeks.

Serious complications are rare. Very rarely, filler can block a blood vessel (vascular occlusion). The doctor knows the anatomy, works carefully and knows how to act immediately; hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if needed. After treatment you can reach the doctor via WhatsApp. Contact us at once if you notice increasing pain, pale or blotchy skin, or any change in your vision.

  • for the first 24 hours: no exercise, sauna or alcohol
  • do not massage the treated areas in the first week unless the doctor advises it

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a liquid facelift and a facelift?

A liquid facelift is non-surgical, using fillers and, where helpful, a muscle relaxant. It restores volume and contour but does not remove skin. A surgical facelift does remove skin and gives a bigger, longer-lasting result where there is a lot of loose skin, with more recovery.

How long does a liquid facelift last?

The filler lasts on average 9 to 18 months, depending on the area and your metabolism. A muscle relaxant usually works for 3 to 4 months. Many people then choose a smaller maintenance treatment.

How much does a liquid facelift cost?

It depends on the areas and the amount of filler in your plan. After the free consultation you receive a combined treatment plan with a fixed total price. There are no surprises afterwards.

Does a liquid facelift look natural?

That is the starting point. The doctor uses small amounts spread over several areas, so that no single area stands out. If in doubt, we prefer to build up the result over two sessions.

How many sessions are needed?

Often one to three sessions, a few weeks apart. The number depends on how many areas are treated and how gradually you want to build up the result. The doctor will discuss the planning at the consultation.

Does a liquid facelift hurt?

Most people find it very tolerable. Most fillers contain a local anaesthetic, and a numbing cream can be applied beforehand if needed. Where possible the doctor uses a blunt cannula, which means fewer injection points.

How do I prepare for a liquid facelift?

At the consultation, mention any medication and supplements you take, especially blood thinners; never stop prescribed medication on your own. Preferably do not schedule the treatment just before an important event, as it takes about two weeks for swelling and bruising to settle and for the result to be final.

Where can I read about other people's experiences?

We do not publish client stories or before-and-after photos on this website. You can find client reviews on our Google Business Profile. During the free consultation the doctor will show you examples, so you know what is realistic.
