What are Profhilo and skin boosters?
Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin and binds moisture. From around age 25 the amount decreases, making the skin drier, duller and less resilient. Skin boosters bring hyaluronic acid back into the skin. Unlike a filler, it is not placed in one spot to give volume, but spread out to improve the skin as a whole.
Profhilo contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid in a stable form, without chemical cross-linkers. It is injected through five fixed points per side of the face (the so-called BAP points, Bio Aesthetic Points) and then spreads beneath the skin. Besides hydrating, research suggests it stimulates collagen and elastin production. Profhilo Structura is a thicker version placed deeper, for the sides of the face with early laxity and loss of support.
Who is it suitable for?
Skin boosters suit adults aged 18 and over who want to improve their skin quality without looking ‘done’. They are not intended for deep wrinkles or marked volume loss; for that the doctor will discuss other options. Not during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

What happens during the treatment?

Free consultation
The doctor assesses your skin and advises which treatment suits you: Profhilo, Profhilo Structura or another skin booster. You receive a fixed price for the whole course in advance.

First session
After cleansing, the product is injected with a fine needle at a limited number of points. This takes about 20–30 minutes.

Second session
Profhilo is usually repeated after 4 weeks. Profhilo Structura consists of one or two sessions, depending on advice.

Free check-up
Two weeks after treatment the doctor reviews the result with you free of charge. For maintenance, one treatment every 6 months is usually enough.
Aftercare and possible side effects
Small bumps appear at the injection points; this is the product that still has to spread. They usually disappear within 24 hours. Redness, mild swelling or a bruise occasionally occur. Serious side effects are rare. If you have questions or concerns, the doctor can be reached via WhatsApp.

- Avoid exercise, sauna and sunbeds for 24 hours
- Do not use scrubs or peels for the first few days
How much does a Profhilo treatment cost?
A Profhilo treatment at Zalat Clinics costs from €259 per session. Because an initial course usually consists of two sessions four weeks apart, a full course usually comes to €518. What is the difference between Profhilo and a filler?
A filler adds volume or shape in a specific spot. Profhilo spreads beneath the skin and improves hydration and firmness without changing the shape of your face.
How many sessions do I need?
Usually two sessions, 4 weeks apart. After that, maintenance about every 6 months is enough. Profhilo Structura consists of one or two sessions.
When will I see results?
The skin often feels more hydrated within a few days. The full result develops over 4–8 weeks after the first session.
Can I combine Profhilo with other treatments?
Yes, Profhilo combines well with, for example, a muscle relaxant or filler. The doctor discusses the order and timing during the consultation.
Can Profhilo be used on the forehead?
In some cases, but the forehead is not the classic indication. Profhilo is mainly intended for the face, using the fixed BAP points on the cheeks and jawline, and for the neck and décolletage. For dry, thin skin on the forehead the doctor assesses whether an adapted approach makes sense; for lines caused by frowning or raising the eyebrows, a muscle relaxant is usually more suitable.
